Food Groups
Despite the dreariness of today’s weather, today has been a surprisingly good day. My breakfast (which I ate at 5:45am) kept me full for an amazingly long time, despite the small amount of calories, so I didn’t have my mid-am snack until 10:15am… that is craziness!
Everything that I planned on eating today from when I left the house to when I got home is in this picture:
I had the strawberry-banana yogurt with 1/4 cup of Kashi Go Lean mixed in as my mid morning snack… I love mixing cereal into yogurt, it has the best combination of sweetness + crunch + fuel (fiber/protein)!
For lunch, I had a whole wheat english muffin with spinach, chunk light albacore tuna, and hot sauce (yum!). Alongside of it, I had some Breakstone’s non fat cottage cheese with celery sticks for dipping (and crunching!). I never tried this combination before, but I really liked the texture of the celery with the cottage cheese. Whenever I had celery as a snack before, it was with peanut butter or laughing cow, so I’m glad I expanded my horizons! This is a protein-packed lunch, so hopefully it gets me through my crazy afternoon…
The giant apple will be reserved for a mid-pm snack, most likely around 3pm. I may need to have a handful of almonds with the apple, but we’ll see how the apple alone handles my hunger first, simply because it’s SO large (but I’m sure it’s delicious)!
