Belated Post
Well, I guess I have about 24 hours worth of posting to do… I had great intentions of posting last night, but I was just too tired to even look at a computer! So I’ll try to make it snappy and post all of yesterday’s delicious & over-indulgent eats!
Mid-afternoon after picking up our rings downtown and going for a nice long walk around the city, I spotted a Starbucks… I was really craving an iced coffee, but despite the warm weather, it was a bit windy in the city… so I went with good old hot coffee (Pike’s Place roast) from Starbucks… I topped it off w/ nonfat milk & a sprinkling of cinnamon… mmmm… this hit the spot! I also had a KIND bar… fruit & nut variety… I was pleasantly surprised by this kind, it was definitely my favorite by far, plus it was 170 calories with 5g protein AND 5g of fiber… it really did fill me up! I loved the chewiness & crunchiness of the bar… both of my favorites rolled up into one bar! I’ll definitely be buying this flavor again…
And then this is where things went south… We continued walking around downtown for a while & planned to have dinner @ Ruth Chris’ in the city; however when we called to make reservations for 6pm… they were all booked until 9! So, luckily we had an alternative, and decided to go to the Ruth’s Chris which was about 25 minutes away… they had open reservations for 6pm, so that worked in our favor! We got up there a little bit early, so we decided to browse around Crate & Barrel for 45 minutes prior to our reservation… I got two cute little itty bitty spoons, which I know a lot of bloggers have, so I’m excited to use them…
Then came dinner… to be honest, my brain controlled my eating habits tonight, not my stomach… so my giant disclaimer on this post will be… “this is NOT how you should eat”…
I started with a glass of riesling… this was A-MAZING… fruity, light, & sweet ~ I am a huge white wine fan, despite the fact that when I’ve made wine before, I’ve always made red (then again, it is easier & takes a shorter amount of time apparently)… Since I don’t drink much, the potency of this wine really hit me and I was feeling the effects within a few minutes!
We each ordered a steakhouse salad, which was a mixture of romaine lettuce, iceberg, and baby lettuce, red onion, and tomatoes… I typically am a vinagrette kind of girl, but I LOVE their lemon basil dressing, it is heavenly!
My entree was the petite filet ~ there are no words to describe this basically! I ate most of it, but gave the remainder to Bill… I had the most amazing side… broiled tomatoes… I LOVE tomatoes so when I saw this on the menu, I knew there was no other option for me haha… I devoured the entire thing! It normally comes with cheese on top, but I asked for it to be cheese-free (the only healthy move I made all night!)…
We finished off dinner with dessert… the location that we went to had specialty desserts in addition to the normal offerings… I really wanted to try the banana dessert, but when she told me they had a molten lava cake as their special feature, I jumped at the opportunity to try it… However, I was not as impressed as I thought I’d be… I think because my tastes are slowly changing… I used to be obsessed with all things chocolate, but I feel like I am slowly gravitating towards more vanilla or fruit-based flavors! Don’t get my wrong, this dessert was very good, but it was definitely heavy on the tummy!
When we finished our marathon eating session, Bill and I were disgustingly full, so we walked around the mall that was across the street… we literally walked around the mall for a good 2 hours because we did not want to get back in the car… the more we walked, the better we felt! Although dinner was good, I am still realizing that I have a big struggle with knowing when to stop eating… hopefully this experience will be embedded in my brain now!

Ooh tomatoes!!! I wish more restaurants had that on their menu. Who doesn’t like tomatoes?
Wooooweee, what a weekend full of delicious eats you’ve had so far – those broiled tomatoes look AMAZING, in particular. Yum!
Romina & VeggieGirl ~ I know, I want to make these at home now!
