Beach Bums

May 25, 2008

Yesterday was a great day since we spent it at the beach! The weather was great too… not too hot, but not too cold… It was a little windy so I wore a sweatshirt over my bathing suit, but all in all, it was a really nice, relaxing day!

I woke up and had a cup of coffee but wasn’t feeling 100% and didn’t really have much of an appetite… So I skipped out on oatmeal and packed a Pecan Pie Larabar with me to eat whenever my hunger decided to strike… It wasn’t until we got to the beach (maybe I was full from dinner the night before? weird!) that I was getting a little hungry so we stopped at the oh-so-famous Mack n Manco’s for pizza on the boardwalk… I played it safe and got a slice of plain and blotted off all the oil… their pizza is good because it’s a light crispy thin crust with little cheese, but a lot of sauce… just the way I like it…

We pretty much laid on the beach for a good 2 hours where we relaxed & people-watched :) I got hungry about half way through so I had my Pecan Pie Larabar (mmmm so yummy!)…

The clouds were coming in and out so it was pretty chilly on the beach mid-afternoon so we decided to pack up our stuff and go walk the boards… We basically walked the boardwalk from 3pm – 9pm which involved going in and out of stores & watching a wedding on the beach (which made me excited for ours!)… We stopped for dinner halfway thru… We got a sandwich consisting of Italian sausage, peppers, & onions… It was really good for boardwalk food, surprisingly!

After dinner we walked some more and played a game of mini golf… I had the lead for all of 5 minutes and then Bill came back and wound up beating me :( It was a fun game though!

I noticed they opened a Gelato store, so I just HAD to go in and get some :D I had half peanut butter cup and half caramel… it was SO good… and I love how they put the pretzel stick in there… Is that how traditional Gelato is served in Italy? I’ve obviously only ever had it in the US, so I’m not sure if that’s the American twist on it or not…

We left to go home around 9′ish and were exhausted… that sun sure is tiring!

Here’s a beautiful picture of the beach sky after the sunset…

I want to do a beach trip SO badly. But it’s just not warm enough here yet! That beach looks gorgeous though… sigh

Your food all looks really good too, perfect beach day eats. Especially that piece of pizza, I love em with thin crust and lots of sauce!

The pizza sounds great! They always give me a weird look when I ask for it to be light on the cheese. I blot mine as well! The gelato looks awesome as well!

Kristie ~ Aww, I hope it warms up for you so you get to hit the beach soon!

Becca A ~ hehe, I get weird looks when I go through tons of napkins to blot my pizza… I got them yesterday too, but who cares ;) The gelato was AMAZING!
