Hungry

May 29, 2008

Lunch today was really yummy… We went to this new Mexican restaurant which seemed to be similar to Moe’s… However, I was NOT impressed… granted it was new and I’m sure they dont have the logistics down yet, but servings were REALLY tiny… as in they used what looked like a 1/4 cup to serve everything, which is fine for the fatty/unhealthy stuff, but when I ordered a salad with grilled veggies & black beans, it was a pile of lettuce and a tiny bit of veggies & beans and a sprinkling of shredded cheese… I added some hot sauce & tons of pico de gallo (for “veggies”) to it as dressing and my mouth was on fire, but in a good sort of way!

I apologize for the icky cell-phone pic… I was trying to be incognito because a lot of my co-workers were at this restaurant today also… I’m not sure if I’ll be going back, maybe once in a while, but it’s not high up on my list :)   Plus, I was STARVING all afternoon… I hate feeling like that… In the afternoon I had a tangerine, but it didn’t really do the trick, however, I didnt have any other options on hand, so I made myself wait until I could have my pre-spin snack, which was an old standby… A clif mini bar chocolate brownie flavor (sadly the only flavor I have left)… I find that for me there is NO better pre-spin snack…

Spinning was great… The instructors rotate every Thursday and luckily both of them are awesome & have different styles, so I don’t think I’ll ever get “used” to a particular routine… I got there a little early and worked on my abs using the machines – LOVE THESE (I hope they work!)… I burned 450 calories, woo hoo!

Since I’ve been watching “Grill Week” on Food network, I’ve been getting all sorts of cravings… I watched a Throwdown episode where Bobby Flay had a Jamaican Jerk throwdown, which completely made me crave Jamaican jerk AND got me super excited about going back to Jamaica in September!  I decided to make a Boca vegan w/ soy burger and top it off w/ our “authentic” (bought it in Jamaica, but it was bottled in US – go figure!!) Jamaican jerk sauce… this was awesome and made me dream about sitting beach side w/ a tropical frozen drink (complete w/ umbrella of course!)… On the side I had some carrots & garlic hummus…

I think I am properly fueled now… so I’m going to do a little bit of work on my paper & prepare for the 2 hr season finale of LOST!

I’m 99% sure that since I’m staying up until 11pm tonight (normal bed time is 9:45pm) that I will be eating a snack, we’ll see if the belly is a-grumblin’!

Everytime I watch a Throwdown I want whatever they are making! Too bad about lunch being disappointing, but it makes a yummy dinner even better!

I am “shopping” for a new favorite tv show, since I just finished the most recent dvd of Desperate Housewives. Everyone seems to love Lost, so maybe I’ll just have to get into it too!

Sorry to hear about your bad lunch experience. They shouldn’t make the portions so small for a healthy dish!!!

Becca A ~ I know, me too!!! My dinner definitely made up for it :)

ChocolateCoveredVegan ~ It is a bit weird, but if you hang in there with watching it, it’s really awesome! It makes you think and analyze every single piece!!!

Romina ~ I know, I just wanted more veggies instead of a pile of shredded iceberg lettuce, oh well!
