Comfort Food
PS ~ I am posting from Windows Live Writer, after reading about it on KERF… I think I am hooked!
Today was all about comfort food for me from my breakfast all the way down to dessert! I have been so cold all day, so I hope that I’m not coming down with something, but all of my meals & snacks all were hearty and comforting… I used today as a veg-out, workout-free, eat-whatever-you-want day, because starting tomorrow my eating & exercise routines are going to be on point in an effort to feed my body with natural/healthy (for the most part!) everything it needs for the ACS Bike Ride ~ which is exactly one week from today… Plus, I also want to get my eating in check since the wedding, which is in 2 months & 1 week!
I started out with breakfast… a nice bowl of slow-cooked microwave oats with half a sliced banana and some chopped pecans…
Lunch was another ideal perfect meal for me… peanut butter & jelly on a toasted english muffin with a mix of sliced fruit…
I knew we were eating an early dinner but I just couldn’t hold off in between meals… so I decided to try one of these new Kashi bars that I discovered in Target yesterday:
The verdict… not too bad… nutritionals are decent, as you would expect for Kashi… and the flavor was right-on… they actually tasted just like the Nutrigrain bars that I was obsessed with many years ago in college, but slightly more heartier, probably due to the whole grains… so if you loved Nutrigrain bars – you will love these guys…
Dinner was my mom’s homemade lasagna… I typically am not a huge fan of it, so it was a running joke when she told me what we were having, but I really enjoyed it tonight… alongside of it, I had a slice of garlic bread (wheat focaccia) and a decent sized garden salad… Delish!
Despite the full belly, my sweet tooth was screaming ice cream, so I had a cup of chocolate chip cookie dough…
I’m definitely beyond full and wishing that I didn’t eat so much ice cream – here’s to hoping I feel better in the am!

I’ll take any leftovers from your breakfast and lunch!! :0D
I can’t believe it, a new kashi product I haven’t come across yet. I hope these hit Pittsburgh stores soon!
Ooh that new Kashi product looks great! It looks like you had a fun weekend for sure – thanks for posting the link to that article!!
Ohhh ice cream…. we have a loving relationship, too much so sometimes
haha. Can you mail me some of your mom’s lasagna? It looks delicious!
Mmm, HEART the cookie dough. The simplicity of comfort food is great; today I realized I hadn’t had oatmeal in a while so I had a bowl with a sliced banana and cinnamon on top and it just made me so warm and happy!
I tried those kashi bars about 2 weeks ago… I really like them but they don’t keep me ful between meals. I think Im going to stick with my kashi roll bars- which I L-O-V-E!!
I tried your slow cook microwaves oats this morning. I am hooked. I was amazed by the difference!!
Your lunch looks fantastic!
Some tasty stuff!
Haha I love the explosion of Windows Live Writer usage on every blog I visit XD I’m trying it out as well! I think it’s kinda neat since we can now edit our posts offline and there’s no need for uploading pictures, but it’s kinda annoying how you have to switch back and forth between normal and HTML view in order to align the pictures and stuff!
Mmmm love your comfort foods! The kashi bar sounds great! I used to be ADDICTED to Nutrigrain
