American Cancer Society Bike A Thon 2008…

Here we come!

…fully stocked with Gu, a wheat bagel (for fuel to eat on the drive to the starting point), and massive amounts of water… I’m sure we will be consuming numerous amount of bananas, oranges, and Clif bars, since they seem to be the typical offerings at the rest stop over the last few years…

PS. I’m kind of excited for the bike ride to be here b/c it means I can stop eating an abundance of carbs… I haven’t felt right after over doing it on this particular food group lately!

The adrenaline & excitement are in full force this morning and we are ready to kick some butt for cancer! It’s official.

As you are reading this, I thought I would leave you with a little inside as to what I am doing this morning:

MINOR DISCLAIMER: I did not attempt to video tape any portion of last year’s ride and don’t advise it due to many safety reasons… I simply found this on YouTube..

I also thought I would leave you with a few stories of WHY WE ALL RIDE year after year. Although not all of the riders have lost someone due to cancer, we all hear stories like this that motivate us to do something about it…

Cyclist rides for cancer research

On a long trip to beat cancer

Kids get in gear to battle against cancer

Hope you have a fantastic Sunday that involves giving back to your community in some way, shape, or form! I will most likely not have any pictures of my food intake today simply because it will be eaten on the go, but I’m sure I’ll have a recap of the day’s events!

good luck with your ride! can’t wait to hear all about it and how it went…it’s so motivating you’re able to work so hard to accomplish something like that. i can only imagine the feeling when you cross that finish line!

  9. Have a wonderful time! I’ve riden in local MS150’s two years in a row. I didn’t ride this year because of volleyball at school but, boy, did I miss it.

My dad & I (we ride a tandem) used Hammer Gel for energy, as well as Clif bars & lots of fruit + water at rest stops like you mentioned. I love cycling!

  10. BEST OF LUCK, LINDSAY!!! :0)

  11. Enjoy! Hope you have an incredible day! I can’t wait to read about it!

  12. Hope today went well. I am amzed. I lost my father to cancer and I really enjoy all the active cancer fundraisers that are out there. Nothing better than mixing awareness, research and movement all together. And the camaraderie cannot be topped! I did the Portland Marathon back in 2003 with TNT.

Hope you sleep well tonight and aren’t too sore in the morning.

  13. Oh wow!!! have fun and good luck!!!!!!
