Well I think I determined what the culprit of my sickness is: water…
The last few weeks I’ve been bringing 64 oz. of water with me since there was no filtered water available in my new location, but this week I got lazy and decided to fill up my waterbottle at work using the water fountain (with slight aftertaste!) in the afternoons… It was right after lunch time that I filled up my water bottle (after receiving a comment from a coworker, “you drink that water??”) from the fountain and shortly after drinking more than half of the container, I felt sick – the same exact sickness as yesterday
… I didn’t put the correlation together until today when I felt the same sickness again… Luckily, I stopped drinking it and the sickness subsided once I got my fill of “normal” water at home… hopefully, my experiment of bringing lots of water with me to work tomorrow will prove my point… let’s hope!
Tonight, for dinner, we decided to pick up Chinese as a splurge… Now, I’m not a huge fan of Chinese food (for the longest time I’d only eat rice & wonton soup), but my parents are… I went with steamed veggies & shrimp and a side of white rice (they do not offer brown… only white & porkfried)… It was delicious eating nice crisp, steamed veggies… I put a ton of black pepper on top of the rice too, so it added more flavor
Here is my portion (which means leftovers!):
I also had the standard fortune cookie:
After dinner, my dad and I went to the gym and he joined me for a spinning class… it was nice to get on a bike (I know it’s only been a day without exercising but it felt awesome to get in the groove today)! I decided that I’m addicted to spinning tonight… I swear I get a mini-endorphin rush from it! It was a great class and I worked REALLY hard, really cranked up the resistance way past what the instructor was doing and sprinted my heart out… which equated to 410 cals burned… I also did some abs work using the machines and incline bench…
Now I’m resting up in bed with a nice bowl of apple pie… well, sort of… I chopped and sliced up a Fuji apple, topped it with cinnamon and tossed it in the microwave (3 minutes on 40% power) for a delicious treat which was topped off with some chunky peanut butter!

Stay away from that other water! Ack!
And I don’t know what you’re talking about… your plate is the healthiest Chinese food combination I’ve seen! You rock!
No more water fountain water, eck! I hope that’s the solution!!!
Mmmm healthy apple pie!
Ick, sketchy water. Good thing you figured it out so now you know to stay away from it!
I’m impressed with your Chinese food haul there. Whenever we get Chinese I dig right in. I try to use resistance, pick healthier things etc but it doesn’t end up being NEARLY as healthy and light as yours is.
Sad news about the water
The last apartment I lived in was like that… yuk!
great job on the chinese food choices! because it’s one of the hardest cuisines to eat healthy (although i did see a book about “why chinese women don’t need to diet” or something like that….) the shrimp looks amazing though! i’m a huge fan. they have spinning classes in my gym, i guess i really should try it out soon!
that is SO MY FAVE MEAL.
steamed veggies and shrimp made by someone else.
I’m really glad that you (hopefully!) found the culprit! Let’s hope all goes better today!!
Nothing better than Chinese food – you did a nice job picking something that wasn’t loaded in sauce! Love the fortune cookie, too
I can’t believe the water is making you sick! Your work should do something about that-ridiculous!
That is the healthiest looking chinese food I have ever seen! Good for you for making a smart/healthy choice!
That apple looks so good, I’ll need to try that soon. Although I love summer, I can’t wait for the fall apples. We live close to an apple orchard, and nothing beats their apples!
that totally sucks that it might be your water making you sick! like erica said, you’re work should do something about that!
and your chinese dinner looks so healthy! no worries!
I’m hoping that you cracked the sickness case and since you are bringing your own water today things will be better! Good Luck!
And as for the chinese, you definitely had the healthiest chinese plate from a restaurant I have ever seen – really awesome.
Wow, its surprising that water can have such an impact! Am so glad you figured out the cause of your sickness.
Ewwww, that is just down right gross that they water may be causing you to get sick. I have heard of water that taste horrible but is safe to drink but not water that taste fine but makes you sick.
am i the only one that hates chinese food? like.. REALLY hates it?!?! it is such a shame too because the ONE restaurant really close to my condo is supposedly the best chinese restaurant around!
LOVE the hoodie by the way.. I will have to look into getting one of those!!!
Rhodeygirl–my husband HATES HATES HATES chinese food. I thought he was the only person who hated chinese food!!! I always want to go eat chinese and I can’t talk him into it!
I get the same way with spinning! Unfortunately, my gym doesn’t offer it, so I have to wait for the weekends to go to other gyms for spinning…
Glad to hear you found the culprit of your sickness-i hate when I don’t feel good and can’t figure out why!
have a great day!
