Return Of Monkey Oats

it’s been a while since I had a nice bowl of Monkey Oats, so when thinking about what kind of a protein packed breakfast I could have, the idea of Monkey Oats lingered in my mind! This was 1/3 cup of oats, 1/2 scoop Chocolate Whey Isolate protein powder, half a banana, 1 tsp ground flax, & cinnamon (of course)… Yum-O!

And my mid-morning snack, eaten around 10, my breakfast held me over for 4 hours ~ amazing! I had a Kashi TLC Crunchy Pumpkin Spice bar… sadly, I only have one box left of these yummy treats! I tried to stock up on them before they took them off the shelf, but hopefully since fall is near, they will bring them back out again! They are my favorite flavor :)

it had been a while since you had Monkey Oats! And last night’s treat looks so cute!! you’re making me crave a pudding cup!!

  8. Oatmeal without cinnamon is so sad. It would feel so empty to forgo the cinnamon!

  9. I love adding whey protein to oats! I like cooking oats with chocolate whey and then mixing in strawberries and yogurt.

  10. You saying that fall is near got me really excited. I think I am just tired of hot summer days and ready for the cooler fall months. Such a cute name for your oats, I want to try that combo.

I just bought those bars last week! Maybe you should try another store. :)

  12. Monkey oats! I love the name. Just finished my own morning bowl of oatmeal and I wish I’d seen the post sooner so I could copy ;-)
Wondering, how do you like the protein powder? I’m looking for ways to add more protein in my diet – I’m a vegan triathlete – and a lot of the protein powders taste horrible to me. But in oatmeal is a great idea. Does it come in other flavours?

  13. VeggieGirl ~ Thanks!

Cara ~ haha, let’s hope not!

HangryPants ~ Its the best isn’t it? Well next to eating pumpkin pie!

glidingcalm ~ I know it has!!!!

Sagan ~ I agree, I actually take the whole canister of oats when I get it and dump cinnamon in the beginning that way it is less work each day and it’s evenly distributed!

    Aimee ~ Ooo great idea!

eatingbirdfood ~ I agree with you about the heat… I love summer & fall, but I really can’t stand winter though!

Emily ~ Good call, I’ll check it out – thanks!

Mangotriathlete ~ Awwww, glad you like it and hope you enjoy it when you try it! I really enjoy this brand of protein powder, GNC Whey Isolate… I believe it comes in vanilla (not a HUGE fan of it but it’s ok), chocolate (my fave!!!), strawberry (haven’t tried it yet!)… I bought a massive canister for $30 there that has lasted me months and months! I usually only use half a scoop at a time so that’s probably why! I love mixing it into my smoothies too (just fruit, protein, flax, and almond breeze)… in fact even mixing the chocolate into the almond breeze is a really yummy chocolate “milk”!

  14. Confirmed sighting of the pumpkin bars at Target.
