Hi All ~
Thanks for all of your well-wishes and good-luck comments regarding our busy “wedding” weekend… Our time away was a blast and we really enjoyed every minute of it, PLUS we got a LOT of wedding stuff done, so it was really productive too, since the next time we are in Cape May (i think), we will be getting hitched!!!!!!!!
Anyway, without further adieu AND since upon logging into Google Reader there are 200 new posts that I need to catch up on from all of my favorite blogs, I’m going to make my Friday + Saturday wrap-ups in 2 parts! We definitely enjoyed ourselves food-wise, but at the same time we didn’t move our car from the moment we got into town so we definitely got a lot of activity (in the form of walking & swimming) in, so it was the best of both worlds
FRIDAY
Friday morning, I started out eating my breakfast in the car on the way to Bill’s since I had to leave quite early… here’s my Kashi Go Lean Roll
We got to the shore and went to Cape May Court and applied for our marriage license! It was so easy & quick that it didn’t feel like we really did it haha… Now we just pick it up the day before the wedding! For lunch, we were starving and ate our lunch around 10:45 since we had eaten breakfast so early and didn’t have any snacks in between… We picked up Wawa on the way down… I had a turkey sandwich on wheat bread with lettuce, hot peppers, and spicy mustard…
We also split some pickles on the side…
Early afternoon we went into the freezing cold Atlantic ocean, temps are rumored to be 69 but it felt much colder! We managed to spend a good 30 minutes in the water dodging and diving into the waves, but I worked up an appetite and decided to have an apple…
I waited a bit and was still hungry, so I dived (literally!) into this 100 calorie bag of popcorn (popped it the night before)
We spent the rest of the afternoon on the beach and then checked into our B&B which was a cute and very antique-y Victorian house that has been there since the 1800’s! By the time we showered, we couldn’t decided where to go to eat because we thought we should try something different since we are hooked on the same spots… We stumbled upon Cabana’s and decided to go in because there was a live band playing and it was a fun atmosphere… We thought that this will be a good place to go out with everyone after our rehearsal dinner! I started out with a Strawberry Daiquiri to celebrate our marriage license (ha!)… plus since we were walking everywhere, we didn’t have to worry about driving!
For my dinner, I decided to try their crab cake sandwich and “crabby” fries with a pickle on the side… I <3 crab cake sandwiches at the shore mostly because of the local ingredients and this was awesome! The bun was amazing too… The fries were ok and I ate maybe 4 of them and gave the rest to Bill… I still prefer good old Chickie & Pete’s fries…
After hanging out there we went into many more stores and shops and walked around town… We stopped at the Cape May Ice Cream Company and I got a kid-sized cone with sugar-free Butter Pecan ice cream… it was yummy & light
Around 11 we were just about to head back to the B&B when we passed our very favorite spot, The Ugly Mug, and decided to go in since there was a band playing… Of course, Bill and I decided to celebrate once again and I got a Miller Lite… (he ordered a Sam Adams)…
Then it was back to the B&B and off to bed…

What a fabulous day of food! Your turkey sandwich looks phenom, and crabcake sandwich- locally made? Heavenn……….. Now I also want Chickies and Petes crab fries RIGHT NOW.
Sometimes, it can be so fun to get a silly girly drink, can’t it?
So happy things are falling into place re: your wedding!

Aww so glad to hear you had such a great time. All the food looks so great, especially eaten outside in bright sunlight. Everything is more fun in the sun!
Can’t wait for part two of the wrap-up!

YUM! all of the food (and drinks!) look fabulous! sounds like your having fun
that is so exciting you got your marriage license- it’s weird how such an official thing (and huge deal) can feel kind of casual when it’s fast like that! i’ve never heard of wawa before, but need to find one from the looks of your sandwich…
have a great night!

Anna ~ hehe those fries are amazing aren’t they?! thanks
Kristie ~ That is VERY true!!!! It’s much more fun in the sun
fitnessista ~ Yeah it was so weird but exciting, still! Wawa is a convienience store in our area (like 7-11 but better maintained, cleaner, better options)… and recently they started offering much healthier on-the-go options

Hope you had fun. I am obviously jealous of your proximity to Wawa. When I was in school in Philly I always got the BLT Shorty. Yum.

your saturday looked so fun and with such great food!
oh, maybe a stupid question…but are crabby fries, made from crab? hahaha…unfortunately on the west coast crab and anything crab related isn’t as popular as it is on the east coast….so my crab knowledge is minimal…hahaha
and hurray for the marriage license! so close yet so far from your big day! so exciting!!!!
