Filling & Blue

August 5, 2008

I woke up with a pretty substantial appetite for so early in the morning, so I decided to “protein-it-up” (yes I just created that) and make a pretty filling breakfast… This oatmeal combination included:

  • 1/2 cup of oats w/ cinnamon cooked on full power
  • Mix in 1/2 a scoop of GNC’s Chocolate Whey Isolate protein powder (after cooking)
  • Top with a 1/2 cup of fresh blueberries
  • Sprinkle obligatory 1 tsp ground flax

…and ENJOY!

This breakfast held me over for a whopping 4 hours!  It was time for my mid-morning snack around 10, so I munched away on my favorite flavor bar, a Clif peanut butter Z Bar… however, you all have been telling me about the fantastic blueberry (cobbler tasting) flavor that has been making its way on your shelves… unfortunately, no sign of them yet in my stores, but hopefully it will be soon ~ I can’t wait :)

My lunch is being provided courtesy of a work meeting so I’m not sure what to expect, hopefully something healthy AND yummy… we shall see!

Clif’s website says there is also a new Apple flavor z-bar. I haven’t seen either yet.

Also, I extended my contest for a good recipe/meal using granola until Thursday. Udi’s Granola will mail a box to the winner. I liked the samples I’ve tried so far. The natural foods area of my grocery store (Giant Eagle) sell Udi’s, Udi’s saw my review of a sample and sent me more and said they wanted to mail some to another reader.

I’ve been looking for a good chocolate whey protein powder. How does the GNC brand taste? Is it easy to mix with water if you’re not using a blender?

    Thanks! :) Breakfast looks great!

Delicious breakfast! Oats are great in the morning – but sometimes I have them for supper when I am too lazy to make something. LOL

You eat a lot of flax, so maybe you or some of your readers know. (I asked Kath, but she wasn’t sure). I just started eating it and I know I am supposed to keep it in the fridge or freezer, but how do you know if it has gone bad and if does goes bad, does that mean it is spoiled or has just lost its nutritional value.

Thanks and have a great Tuesday!
