Milky Oats

August 11, 2008

Ahh, since I drank my morning coffee I’m feeling a little bit better but I really wish that it wasn’t Monday and that I could be laying in bed all day instead of at work! Oh well, you do what ya gotta do, right? Plus, in 30 days (September 10th), my 2 week-long vacation (wedding + honeymoon) will start, so I just have to keep looking ahead to that!

I started off the morning with something unusual for me… milky oats:) I usually never add milk to my oatmeal, but when I made my oats they were ultra-steamy and hot and it was the perfect thing to cool them down… I also topped them with a small handful of blueberries (trying to stretch out the remainder of the pint that is left) and mixed in some flax… All in all, a great way to start the Monday… even better if it was eaten in bed!

Mid-morning, although my breakfast held me over well, I really wanted something to warm me up and oatmeal is the perfect comfort food, especially the Quaker Lower Sugar Maple & Brown Sugar flavor… Over here, the temperature really got cool for this time of year, it’s apparently only going to hit 75 degrees, so this was a great choice for my snack & body temperature :)

I love that flavor of Quaker instant – it’s my favorite :)

I’ve never thought to add extra milk, either. But it definitely would be a great way to cool down the oats! Nice :)

Great call on choosing oatmeal to warm you up! It’s a little colder down here in DC too… I’m freezing in my office!

When I was young I would only eat maplesnd sugar oatmeal! I’ve never added mill to my already cooked oats – I’ll have to try it.

I did milky oats this morning too…completely cold. It was quite tasty. It was a bit chilly here today too. And I wanted to stay in bed SO BADLY. I think that is why I went for cold oats; I simply wasn’t willing to put forth the effort to microwave. Hope your day has gone quickly!!!

And that honeymoon is so so so close!!!!
