Today was a really fun-filled day yet again! I can’t believe the weekend is over though – so sad! This morning, I set out to work in the kitchen at around 9′ish (after watching the news and catching up on blogs while the birthday boy was still sleeping). One of the hubby’s favorite breakfast foods is pork roll (a Philadelphia staple – basically ham) sandwiches, so I knew I had to incorporate that into his “breakfast in bed”. I toasted a sesame bagel and topped it with two slices of pork roll & melted mozarella slices on top. Then, I took a red potato and grated it into hashbrowns and cooked them with a tbsp olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic. This was my first attempt at doing so and he really liked them. I also cooked up two eggs on the side. It was definitely a breakfast fit for a king-sized stomach complete with a big glass of orange juice. He was quite surprised when I woke him up to give him his breakfast and really enjoyed everything – yay! Here’s the breakfast:

While he ate, I ate beside him which was a nice treat to lounge around in my pajamas on a Sunday morning (since normally we are at church). I made myself one sunny-side up egg (haven’t had one in a while!) with a slice of pork roll (usually not my thing but decided to have it since I had bought a whole ton of it), half a sliced banana (from yesterday), and a toasted Arnold’s sandwich thin. I also had two cups of the amazing PB Macadamia Nut coffee (found at Harry & David’s). It was a fantastically filling breakfast!

After our R&R time, we cleaned up the house a bit and did the dishes and then were off to head to do some window shopping at the mall. It was fun just to walk around and enjoy the day in a really relaxed and not rushed setting! I surprised Bill with reservations for dinner at Ruth’s Chris – his absolute favorite restaurant (besides Outback – definitely a meat n potatoes kinda guy although I have converted him with some things haha). Our reservation was at 5pm, so we each had a snack to hold us over. I had a Kashi TLC Crunchy Pumpkin Spice granola bar – mmmmmmmmm good!

Dinner was amazing as I expected it to be. Typically, I could do without steak, but here it is amazing (probably because it’s broiled in butter!). It is totally indescribable! I started out with the steakhouse salad with the lemon basil dressing (my favorite) served on the side.

For my entree, I selected the petite filet well done served on a 500 degree plate – yikes.

We picked two sides to share: Bill chose the potatoes au gratin and I chose the broiled tomatoes (LOVE THESE). The potatoes were OK – slightly too heavy for my liking. Here was my portion…

For dessert, we chose to split the warm apple crumb tart. I loved that they brought out a candle for Bill, too
I was hoping they would do that since when I made the reservation I mentioned it was for his 30th birthday. We were both stuffed when dessert came out, but we managed to fit it in. It was just too good to let it go to waste haha… I loved it because the inside of it was just filled with cinnamon-y warm apples.

All in all it was a great weekend and I hope Bill enjoyed every minute of it. Lucky for him, the birthday festivities are not over yet. Next week we are celebrating on Friday & Saturday night with each of our parents so this is the birthday that never ends
Now I’m off to literally ROLL myself into bed – I am still unbelievably stuffed!!
Hope you all had a great weekend – be back tomorrow night! Hope you have a great Monday am
