About Me!
Thanks for visiting Love Of Oats! I am a 26 year old female living just outside Philadelphia with my husband of a year and a half… I have a BS degree in Computer Science and an MBA and put both of those degrees to work everyday in my job…
I try to get to the gym 5-6 times a week after work (ellipticalling, spinning, kickboxing, or weights), but lately, I’ve only been averaging 4 times due to other commitments; however I still try to get at least 30 minutes of activity in each day… I cook almost every weekday and Sunday night, but usually take Friday and/or Saturday “off”
I have a huge love for being in the kitchen, I love baking and cooking and am a total foodie
My main loves involve my husband, family, friends, the kitchen, biking, being outside, and of course going to Phillies games (we are partial season ticket plan holders so you will see this a lot on the blog!)…
I originally started this blog, For The Love Of Oats, as a weight-loss / healthy eating blog (and journaled my successes for losing over 30 pounds), but I had some struggles with how to take the blog to a different level and maintain it despite a busy work and family life. Now, I’m not categorizing the blog as anything except for a place for me to share some recipes, neat ideas, and day to day ramblings!
I hope you enjoyed your visit to the blog and hope you’ll come back soon!

Where in the Philly area are you from? I
Megs ~ I am in a suburb of Bucks County…
Awesome, I live in Conshohocken and work in Center City. I grew up in Delaware County,
Megs ~ too funny
It’s a small world!
Hey Linds! I live in Abington (about 25 mins North of philadelphia) and love your blog…It seems that you achieve the idea of listening to what your body craves, giving it what it truly wants. Fabulous. I’m starting up my own blog (in the process) so look out for it, it’ll be up soon! Cheers <3
Julia ~ I know exactly where Abington is
I don’t think I’m quite there yet – with listening to my body, but I’m hoping to be there soon thru the help of this blog & support
Can’t wait to see your blog, definitely let me know when it’s up!
My blog is up and rolling!!! How do I get readers? Haha I’m going to be the lone little blogger who blogs for herself…hahaha
Julz – yay for your blog being up! I just started getting readers by linking my blog when I comment on other people’s and I’ll add you to my Blogroll!… I still don’t have a huge base of readers, but it’s something hehe
I’m going to go check out yours now!
It’s only a newborn…=) You’re SO sweet!!! IT’s the “brotherly love,” I’m telling you, lol.
Julz ~ LOL… the funny thing is that neither of us actually live inside of philadelphia haha… maybe that’s why we have the brotherly love!
In this space you should post that picture from St. Patrick’s Day!
Ashley ~ hehe good call
I’m going to try to look or take a better picture this weekend of maybe just me OR me & my fiance… then I can update this page a bit!!!
Hey! I just started reading your blog recently and love it! I, too, work full time and am getting my MBA by going part time. Seeing how you do it certainly helps! You’re inspiring me to start my own at some point.
I’m trying to lose about 10-15 pounds and have been doing Weight Watchers to do so. I noticed that you’ve lost 20 pounds or more. Do you count calories or just eat in moderation?
Keep up the great work!!!
Amy ~ Hi
I’m so happy you enjoy the blog and so excited about having a fellow MBA’er reading it too! Where are you at in relation to finishing the program? It will have taken me a little over 2.5 years to finish, but the time honestly did fly by looking back at it now…
I actually did Weight Watchers for a while there (the online program) and it helped me tremendously; however once I got into heavy workouts I found that it really wasn’t meeting my calorie needs, so I decided to use the Harris-Benedict formula instead, after researching online… I have used that to “count calories”… Now I don’t necessarily count calories (although I have a bad habit of still adding them up in my head that I’m trying to shake!), but I’m just trying to listen to my stomach (not my brain) in terms of hunger…
I know that I personally do best with eating every 3-4 hrs… I have also focused on putting better quality foods (less processed, more protein/fiber/good carbs) in my body also, although as you can see from what I typically eat, I do have my splurges! I think my motto would be everything in moderation, and I think WW is a great program as a result…good luck with it! Let me know if I can be of any help to you… Thanks for reading the blog!
Thanks! I will most likely ask for some help along the way. I need to work on eating every 3-4 hours because sometimes I let myself get way too hungry!
I’m in my second semester of school so I’m hoping to be done by 2010. It should take about 2.5 to 3 years all together. The time is going very quick though. You must be excited to be almost done! I wish I had started mine right after undergrad. I took a few years off (I’m 26 now) but I’m glad I didn’t take much longer!
Amy ~ That was exactly my problem before, now I feel like I’m eating all the time
You are right ~ I am SO excited to be almost finished… Anyway, I wish you luck w/ school & the weight loss! Have a great day!
Such a nice photo! You are really tan!
Great blog!
And you’re so pretty
)
Tina ~ Thanks
Yes, this was me 2 months after Jamaica, so that kind of explains my insane tan – I swear I wear sunscreen, but I tan easily due to the “spanish” in me!
ChocolateCoveredVegan ~ Awww you are TOO sweet!!! I love your blog too ~ I have to add you to my blogroll!
Great articles, thanks for sharing it! Would love to feature you on Wellsphere.com, a site that helps people to live healthier. Can’t find a contact form so thought I’d comment; look forward to hearing from you. Thanks, Larisa
Tina,
Great blog, can’t help but think that with your busy schedule a folding bike would work out for you. Throw it in the back of the car and when you have time, find a good place to park and pull it out for a ride. Otherwise leave it in the back and forget about it. Check out our blog at site.swissbike.com/blog to see how people are using our bikes to save time and space.
Thank you!!
You’ve graduated! Now you have to update this. =)
Ashley ~ Good catch
Hi Lindsay,
My name is Bobbi and I’m working on the Spinning Nation event. I was reading your blog and noticed spinning is part of your exercise schedule. I am hoping you will be interested in this event. I won’t bore you with too many details here, but it’s the first nationwide Spinning fundraising event ever and we have a very small staff putting it together. If you like the idea after you take a look at what we’re doing and wouldn’t mind mentioning us in your blog, it would help a lot. Maybe you’ll even sign up at a club near you; I know we have a few in Pennsylvania. If not, I understand. Blogs are a very personal thing and I’d never ask if it weren’t all for good causes. Thanks, you can always reach me at bobbi@sportsgrants.org. The website is http://www.spinningnation.org
Best Regards,
Bobbi

Good luck w/ this great cause!!

Hey! How is the training for the 5k coming along?
I stumbled across your blog and it’s great! It noticed you are from Bucks County-I am originally from Philly (Roxborough to be exact).
It’s neat to see someone else from around my neck of the woods!
I can’t believe I’m just finding this blog! I live in Philly, I love nutrition, fitness, God, and also have a techy background (engineering). But I’m moving in a month! boo! At least I can keep up with the blog once I move. This is good stuff!
I came across your blog while reading another blog. I saw your post about Cheeburger, Cheeburger (which is one of my fav places)
and then when I saw you were from Bucks County, well, that’s where I am, too.
I am in Langhorne. What a small world!
